A description of a flat piece of bone, sawed from a cattle metacarpus or metatarsus, which is identified as a part of a lyre from the early Middle Ages. The piece was found in 1901 in the mound-village of Teerns, south of Leeuwarden, and is currently in the Fries Museum, Leeuwarden. The front of the piece is smoothly polished and features incised ornaments in the form of ring-and-dot motives. One end has two large and the other six smaller perforations.
