Descriptions of the medieval lyre, harp, psaltery, trumpet marine, hurdy-gurdy, rebec, fiddle, and bagpipe include a discussion the instrument's name and organological descriptions. In addition the iconographic and manuscript sources that present each instrument and the practical uses, acoustical characteristic, and functions of the instrument according to these sources are examined.
