Chronic Low Back Pain Observation [link]Paper  abstract   bibtex
Chronic Low Back Pain Observation 'is a behavioral observation system that consists of 10 behaviors separated into two major groups: mutually exclusive and concomitant behaviors. The mutually exlusive behaviors recorded include coding categories for both the major body positions assumed by the patient during the observation session (sitting, reclining, and standing) and for major movements (walking and shifting from one position to another). The concomitant behaviors recorded consist of five observable motor patterns that can occur at the same time as the mutually exclusve behaviors. The coding categories include guarding, bracing, rubbing, grimacing, and sighing. Trained observers view videotapes of observation sessions. Each session consists of a 1- and 2-minute sitting period, a 1- and 2-minute standing period, two 1-minute reclining periods, and two 1-minute walking periods. Observations are made using 30-second intervals broken down into a 20-second observe and 10-second record phase
