@inproceedings{khaliliLDR2016, abstract = {Due to the increasing amount of Linked Data openly published on the Web, user-facing Linked Data Applications (LDAs) are gaining momentum. One of the major entrance barriers for Web developers to contribute to this wave of LDAs is the required knowledge of Semantic Web technologies such as the RDF data model and SPARQL query language. This paper presents an adaptive component-based approach together with its open source implementation for creating flexible and reusable Semantic Web interfaces driven by Linked Data. Linked Data-driven (LD-R) Web components abstract the complexity of the underlying Semantic Web technologies in order to allow reuse of existing Web components in LDAs, enabling Web developers who are not experts in Semantic Web to develop interfaces that view, edit and browse Linked Data. In addition to the modularity provided by the LD-R components, the proposed RDF-based configuration method allows application assemblers to reshape their user interface for different use cases, by either reusing existing shared configurations or by creating their proprietary configurations.}, added-at = {2016-02-23T10:26:12.000+0100}, author = {Khalili, Ali and Loizou, Antonis and van Harmelen, Frank}, biburl = {http://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/25c6c251dd111a9e2460974dea110e88d/alikhalili}, booktitle = {Extended Semantic Web Conference (ESWC) 2016}, date-added = {2016-02-23 09:16:22 +0000}, date-modified = {2016-02-23 09:21:13 +0000}, interhash = {bcc7b71482cadaebf7afc0f247427ed3}, intrahash = {5c6c251dd111a9e2460974dea110e88d}, keywords = {akhalili ali1k alikhalili khalili ld-r myown semantic web}, timestamp = {2016-02-23T10:26:12.000+0100}, title = {Adaptive Linked Data-driven Web Components: Building Flexible and Reusable Semantic Web Interfaces}, url = {http://research.ld-r.org}, year = 2016 }

The use of electronic prescribing systems (e-prescribing) have resulted in significant reductions in such errors. However, dealing with the heterogeneity of available information sources is still one of the main challenges of e-prescription systems. There already exists different sources of information addressing different aspects of pharmaceutical research (e.g. chemical, pharmacological and pharmaceutical drug data, clinical trials, approved prescription drugs, drugs activity against drug targets. etc.). Handling these dynamic pieces of information within current e-prescription systems without bridging the existing pharmaceutical information islands is a cumbersome task. In this paper we present semantic medical prescriptions which are intelligent e-prescription documents enriched by dynamic drug-related meta-data thereby know about their content and the possible interactions. Semantic prescriptions provide an interoperable interface which helps patients, physicians, pharmacists, researchers, pharmaceutical and insurance companies to collaboratively improve the quality of pharmaceutical services by facilitating the process of shared decision making. In order to showcase the applicability of semantic prescriptions we present an application called Pharmer. Pharmer employs datasets such as DBpedia, Drug Bank, Daily Med and RxNorm to automatically detect the drugs in the prescriptions and to collect multidimensional data on them. We evaluate the feasibility of the Pharmer by conducting a usability evaluation and report on the quantitative and qualitative results of our survey.}, doi = {10.1109/ICSC.2013.66}, keywords = {document handling;drugs;medical information systems;DBpedia dataset;Daily Med dataset;Drug Bank dataset;Pharmer application;RxNorm dataset;drug detection;dynamic drug-related meta data;e-prescription systems;electronic prescription systems;health care domain;intelligent e-prescription documents;interoperable interface;medication errors;pharmaceutical information islands;pharmaceutical research;semantic medical prescriptions;usability evaluation;Companies;Drugs;Ontologies;Resource description framework;Semantics;Semantic prescription;e-health;e-prescription;semantic annotation} }

However, the currently least developed aspect of the semantic content life-cycle is the user-friendly manual and semi-automatic creation of rich semantic content. In this paper we present the RDFaCE approach for combining WYSIWYG text authoring with the creation of rich semantic annotations. Our approach is based on providing four different views to the content authors: a classical WYSIWYG view, a WYSIWYM (What You See Is What You Mean) view making the semantic annotations visible, a fact view and the respective HTML/RDFa source code view. The views are synchronized such that changes made in one of the views automatically update the others. They provide different means of semantic content authoring for the different personas involved in the content creation life-cycle. For bootstrapping the semantic annotation process we integrate five different text annotation services. We evaluate their accuracy and empirically show that a combination of them yields superior results.}, doi = {10.1109/COMPSAC.2012.72}, issn = {0730-3157}, keywords = {Internet;authoring systems;text analysis;RDFa content editor;RDFaCE;WYSIWYG;WYSIWYM;Web of Data;semantic annotations;semantic content life-cycle;text authoring;Conferences;Software;RDFa;rNews;semantic content authoring;text annotation} }

Such an opportunity is available in educational systems, based on the wiki paradigm. However, Ward Cunningham's wiki paradigm was mainly only applied to unstructured, textual content thus limiting the content structuring, re-purposing and reuse. Some steps in this direction are made by Semantic Web technologies and their combination with the wiki paradigm. In many potential usage scenarios, however, the(semi-)structured educational content (e.g. presentations, questionnaires, diagrams, etc.) should be managed and the collaboration of large user communities around such content should be effectively facilitated. We present the CrowdLearn concept for collaborative engineering of the semantically structured learning objects as well as a model-driven approach to generate the wiki-like application operating in the spirit of CrowdLearn. Situational projects are unpredictable and transient projects within an organization that come with limited number of users with specific needs. Handling these projects differs from traditional project management approaches. They need rapid and good enough solutions. In this paper a simple and organized approach for managing situational projects is proposed.
