[Excerpt] This species is classed as Least Concern as it is widespread with stable populations and does not face any major threats. [::Range Description] Tamarix octandra occurs in NW Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia (Baum 1978,~Zieliński 1993). [::Countries] Native:Azerbaijan; Iran, Islamic Republic of; Russian Federation; Turkey [::Population] T. octandra occurs in patches in suitable habitats. Compared to other species of Tamarix which mostly form dense communities, T. octandra is rather rare and associates with other species. [::Habitat and Ecology] This species is found both is brackish and salt water marshes and rarely along fresh water rivers. More frequently it occurs in spring and water runners in lime and gypsum hills. [::Use and Trade] No uses are documented in the literature on this species. However, it is expected that local people use this species for fuel. [::Major Threat(s)] There are no known significant past, ongoing or future threats to this species.
