The article discusses the power of narration as seen from the criticism of "The Epic of Gilgamesh." It explains that narratives display ways to make sense of the world and of human experience, narrative fiction offers the possibility to explore and test alternative values and courses of conduct through the representation of hypothetical yet concrete cases. The article shows the narrative structure as staging of a pursuit of values and the act and mode of narration itself as exemplification and performance of the use and power of words.
