If someone judges that Joe is musically gifted because he was accepted at the Julliard School, that judgment is universalizable only if it commits the agent to the claim that, under normal conditions, any music student who is accepted at Julliard is gifted. Universalizability implies that it is the generic qualities of the individual that justifies the judgment, rather than singular qualities (ones that refer to that individual essentially).
