ROME, Dec. 5. – The long-expected and oft-postponed "premiere" of Pietro Mascagni's "Iris," took place on Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, at the Costanzi Theatre. The work in question has been ushered in with a tremendous beating of drums and blowing of trumpets, and if advertising can count for anything it has certainly had an opportunity of showing its full power on this occasion.
