An examination of the anticipatory anxiety that many soldiers suffer before being deployed to war zones, this research article was one of the first to propose the concept of pre-traumatic stress disorder. In a sense, it provides a psychological foundation for the more humanistic studies of future trauma that I include later in this bibliography.
