Scholarly approaches to teaching ISCI 320 Research Development Retreat. Blok, H. J. (. . abstract bibtex ISCI 320 Research Development Retreat is a novel and exciting inquiry-driven course at UBC. Here I show the scholarly approaches taken in its design and implementation. Course goals, activities, and assessments are related in a concept map. Effectiveness of the course is demonstrated through three lines of evidence: (1) improvement in report grades, (2) improvement in measures of science comprehension, and (3) student reflections. Results demonstrate that ISCI 320 is a very effective course.
