Tracking-optimal error control schemes for H.264 compressed video for vehicle surveillance. Chen, Z., Soyak, E., Tsaftaris, S. A., & Katsaggelos, A. K. In European Signal Processing Conference, pages 1900–1904, 2012.

In this paper we present a transportation video coding and transmission system specifically tailored to automated vehicle tracking applications. By taking into account the video characteristics and the lossy nature of the wireless channels, we propose error control approaches to enhance tracking accuracy. The proposed system is shown to give performance improvement over the current state-of-the-art system and yields bitrate savings of up to 60%. © 2012 EURASIP.
