Some Aspects of Seed Germination in Four Species of Cistus L. [link]Paper  abstract   bibtex
Seed germination after several different treatments was studied in Cistus ladanifer, C. albidus, C. laurifolius and C. salvifolius. Heat treatments (100°C for 30 min) and soaking in distilled water broke seed dormancy. The germination rate was not increased either by exogenous gibberellins (GA3) or white light treatments. The hypothetical role of seed coats in dormancy is discussed on the basis of their interference with water or oxygen uptake.
