Phytochemistry, 33(5):1009-1014, 1993. abstract bibtex Two moss species and one liverwort were examined for their fatty acids by capillary GC-MS in neutral, glyco- and phospholipid fractions. The neutral and phospholipid fractions from Marchantia polymorpha yielded 22.65% and 8.47% acetylenic acids, respectively, among which some unusual, rarely occurring acetylenic acids were found, i.e. 8a,11,14-20:3,6a,9,12,15-18:4 and 5a,8,11,14-20:4. The quantities of total, neutral, phospho- and glycolipids were also estimated. Quantitative determination of a polar lipid not containing phosphorus with an R(f) value very close to that of was performed.
