Adaptive digital techniques to suppress quantization noise of ZA analog to digital converters. Farahani, B. & Ismail, M. In Proceedings of the ACM Great Lakes Symposium on VLSI, GLSVLSI, 2005.
abstract   bibtex
This paper investigates the application of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) techniques in improving the performance of sigma delta ADCs. Using a specific technique of ANC, adaptive line enhancer (ALE), quantization noise of sigma delta modulator can be reduced significantly and signal to noise ratio is boosted. Mathematical model of this system in steady state is presented. Simulation results on different sigma delta ADCs are very promising and show significant improvements in signal to noise ratio and spurious free dynamic range. ALE processes the signal at the output of sigma delta modulator; hence, it will be a part of digital post-processing of the signal and no analog complexity will be added to the converter by using this technique.
