Construção de ontologia na prática: um estudo de caso aplicado ao domínio obstétrico. Farinelli, F. & Elkin, P. L 2017.
abstract   bibtex
The volume of information and the variety of sources of information poses challenges for informational integration. The need to integrate information between distinct information systems leveraged research to identify alternatives capable of providing semantic interoperability between systems, that is, the specification of the information without creating ambiguities. As a contribution of Information Science, ontologies serve as an alternative for the semantic standardization of information. However, the process of constructing ontologies still raises a lot of doubt among researchers. Many authors describe methodologies for the construction of ontologies, but there is a gap between the methods described and their application in practice. It seeks to demonstrate in practice the construction of an ontology that has adopted two consolidated methodologies: the ontological realism and the NeOn methodology. In relation to the technical methods and procedures performed, this research is a case study that investigates the practice of the construction of a biomedical ontology in the obstetrical domain, with the purpose of describing and explaining the process of ontology construction practiced. It is hoped to contribute with the advancement of the research in construction of ontologies in the field of Information Science, given its application in the solution problems of organization and information retrieval in informational environments of diverse scientific fields.
