abstract   bibtex
In Ecocrítica poscolonial y literatura moderna latinoamericana [Postcolonial Ecocriticism and Modern Latin American Literature], Doctor William Flores examines Latin American works from an ecocritical perspective using concepts such as "deep ecology" and "biocentrism" in order to explore certain ideas of Latin American ecosophies, opening new doors to the dichotomy between man and his environment as portrayed in modern and postmodern Latin American works. The author then tries to find the kind of ecological consciousness manifested in the thoughts of authors like José Vasconcelos, Mario Vargas Llosa, Rómulo Gallegos, Gabriel García Márquez y Rodrigo Fresán. Flores carefully examines the environmental crisis and its impact on the life and literature of Latin America.
