DefinitionMassively multiplayer online (role-playing) game, MMORPG or MMOG for short, is a new genre of online games that has emerged with the introduction of Ultima since 1997. It is a kind of network virtual environment (NVE) where hundred or thousands of players play together in a persistent game world.There are many types of massively multiplayer online games such as role playing games (MMORP), first person shooters (MMOFPS), real-time strategy (MMRTS), racing games (MMOR), tycoon games (MMOTG), sports games/social game (MMOSG). MMOGs are in some ways similar to generic massively multiuser simulations that have existed for decades, most notably combat training simulations used by departments of defense around the world, and more recently, disaster management applications, emergency planning simulators, etc. These have significant advantages on virtual training in high-risk situations as well as to interpret the real and the simulated results in extraordinary circumstances ...
