Regression Methods to Estimate Environmental Variables For Valencia Lake, Venezuela. Garcia, C. & Garcia, M. Technical Report Claremont Graduate University, 2009. abstract bibtex Time series data available for several environmental variables measured at Valencia Lake – Venezuela are used to build prediction models. To induce a prediction model the problem is formulated as a functional regression. This document describes the analysis and processing of the data and compares the results obtained by the application of three numerical regression techniques: ordinary least squares, Hildreth – Lu method and ridge regression. As part of the processing, different tools for data completion are discussed. Ridge regression is also applied to the estimation of a function for the spatial distribution of different variables in the lake. Index
