Extension of preparation methods employed with ceramic materials to carbon honeycomb monoliths. Gatica, J., Rodríguez-Izquierdo, J., Sánchez, D., Ania, C., Parra, J., & Vidai, H. Carbon, 42(15):3251–3254, 2004. Paper doi abstract bibtex The preparation methods employed with ceramic materials to carbon honeycomb monoliths were discussed. Two different carbon samples, a commercial powdered activated carbon and a type of natural coal were used. It was found that, in the case of the coal-based monoliths, activation of the green monolith gives rise to a development of the porous structure, the total open pore volume increasingly considerably. The results show that the microporosity clealy increases from complete absence in the coal up to 45% of the total porosity.
