Real World HPD Attenuation: A New Field Measurement Method Using F-MIRE and Time Signals [pdf]Paper  abstract   bibtex
What is the real world attenuation a worker gets from hearing protection devices (HPDs)? In order to answer this question, a new field measurement method has been developed using a F-MIRE setup with 2 microphones (outside and inside the HPD): the audio signals are recorded, in the time domain, during a complete work shift. The recordings are then post-processed to give the attenuation and the factors affecting its variations.
