Obsessieve compulsieve stoornis en metacognitief vertrouwen in aandacht, perceptie en geheugen = Obsessive compulsive disorder and metacognitive confidence in attention, perception and memory. Grouwels, L., Hermans, D., Engelen, U., Joos, E., Lemmens, J., & Pieters, G. Gedragstherapie, 42(1):35–48, March, 2009. Publisher: Bohn Stafleu Van Loghum: Springer
Paper abstract bibtex Previous studies revealed a connection between Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD and distrust in memory. A study by Hermans et. al. (2003) also revealed a connection between OCD and distrust in attention. The aim of the current study was to replicate the data concerning the distrust in memory, examine distrust in perception, investigate if OCD is in fact attended by distrust in attention and examine whether repeated checking increases distrust in attention. Participants had to repeat a specific compulsive task and two neutral tasks five times. After the first, third and fifth time they had to complete a Brief Cognitive Confidence Questionnaire and finally they had to complete the Padua-R, the MCQ and the BDI-II. Patients with OCD show more distrust in memory, reality monitoring and attention; distrust in attention seems to be the sole predictor of checking behavior and repeated checking causes an increase in distrust in attention.
