Hasker's interest in writing this article was to provide the first "systematic mapping" of the faith-learning integration landscape, which he sees as the territory between broader discussions of "worldview" and studies that focus on particular academic disciplines. Hasker's definition of FLI: "a scholarly project whose goal is to ascertain and to develop integral relationships which exist between the Christian faith and human knowledge, particularly as expressed in the various academic disciplines." 234
