Research on interception losses and soil moisture relationships. Helvey, J. D. Pages 129-137 in W, 1988.
Paper abstract bibtex This chapter summarizes a mass of interception and soil moisture data and reviews conclusions of Coweeta research. Consolidation of interception results from studies at many eastern sites identified a commonality that has been invaluabale in obtaining widely applicable forest interception estimates. Studies of soil moisture content and flux played a key role in development of the variable source area concept and interpretation of water yield results. Both areas of knowledge contribute to advances in studies of nutrient cycling and ecosystem responses.
