10 Gbit/s 177 km transmission over conventional singlemode fibre using a vestigial side-band modulation format. Hoon Kim & A. H. Gnauck Electronics Letters, 37(25):1533–1534, December, 2001.
doi  abstract   bibtex
The transmission of 10 Gbit/s vestigial-side-band (VSB) signals over 177 km of conventional singlemode fibre is demonstrated. The dispersion penalty was measured to be \textless 3 dB. The simulation analysis shows that the small dispersion penalty comes from the combination of reduced spectral width of the VSB signal and the negative dispersion of the VSB filter.
