Interactive multimedia, public participation and environmental assessment [link]Paper  doi  abstract   bibtex
This pape examines the way in which the current arrangements for public consultation, in the process of environmental assessment, could be improved by the application of multimedia techniqes. The task undertaken was to design a low budget portable system that would help planning authorities and developers to communicate the complex environmental issues associated with large-scale development. The design has the capacity to use techniques such as visualisation, animation and sound. Although still in the stages of formulation, the discussion of the conceptual framework, and the range of software employed, should be of interest to those considering such an approach to the enhancement of public involvement in environmental decision making. -Authors
