On How to Build SDI Using Social Networking Principles in the Scope of Spatial Planning and Vocational Education. Janecka, K., Berzins, R., Charvat, K., & Dzerve, A. In Lecture Notes in Computer Science (including subseries Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence and Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics), volume 6783 LNCS, pages 78-92, 2011.
abstract   bibtex
Several ways how to build a spatial data infrastructure usable for\nspatial planning domain exist. It must be said that today the area\nof spatial planning is under the influence of the European INSPIRE\ndirective. It is necessary to spread an awareness about how to build\nthis infrastructure in terms of INSPIRE. The article describes the\ncurrent ways how to build the spatial data infrastructure. Furthermore,\na new approach - GeoPortal4everybody, based also on using of social\nnetworking principles is proposed. Next, the paper presents using\nof GeoPortal4everybody concept as a part of technological framework\nfor vocational education partially developed in the SDI-EDU project.\nThis project aims on creating of online educational platform for\nspatial planners. The educational content is concentrated mainly\non issues related to INSPIRE, Spatial Data Infrastructure and spatial\nplanning. Finally the paper gives an overview of the main parts of\nthe educational platform like GeoPortal4everybody and BizBiz tools.\n© 2011 Springer-Verlag.
