Rain-splash is a very effective process in the short distance dispersal of biotic (spores) and abiotic (pesticides) particles leading to potential or biological or chemical contamination within crops ecosystems. This process has been studied using empirical or statistical approaches mostly by looking at mono or bidimensional contamination gradients in simple source-sink systems. Drawbacks of such approaches are mostly specificity for a given disease - crop system couple, and are not made up of the underlying physical mechanisms involved in the particle transfer.
