There are persistent rumors that bookstore chains are threatening libraries. For bookstores to be a threat to libraries, they would have to make their staff go to library school. Nevertheless, libraries can learn from bookstores by returning to some of the niceties that are being cast off such as tasteful signs, comfortable spots, elegance, dignity, and the human touch.
