Roads to Wellness pilot outdoor intervention: Evaluation. Knowles, B. & Wright, S. Technical Report 2019.
abstract   bibtex
In 2018, a group of managers from the Human Resource Department (HRD) were nominated to participate in the first Victorian Government funded States of Change leadership development Program. The program was focused on developing ‘innovation' within the public sector. Environmental scans and early analysis of the 2017 Victoria Police Mental Health & Wellbeing Study (Prevalence Study) identified ‘at risk' groups that would benefit from therapeutic, resilience building interventions. (Victoria Police, 2018). Adventure Works were engaged by Victoria Police to develop and pilot an innovative bush adventure therapy program. A survey of current literature relating to depression, anxiety and PTSD within emergency services and military cohorts provided an initial basis for trialing bush adventure therapy as a suitable preventative intervention and established initial theoretical correlation between current research and program design. This evaluation describes the process and indicative outcomes of the first pilot program conducted in 2019.
