Some morphological, biological and genetical differences between Cryptolestes pusillus fuscusssp. n. and C. pusillus pusillus (Schönherr)(Coleoptera, Cucujidae) [link]Paper  doi  abstract   bibtex
A sub-species of Cryptolestes pusillus (Schönherr) with the head, prothorax and base of the elytra black, is described for the first time under the name C. pusillus fuscus Lefkovitch. The range of constant temperature at which it developed was narrower than for the typical form and adults tended to weigh less. Females had a lower oviposition rate in most conditions but a higher one at 27·5°C and 90 per cent r.h. Most of the values of the innate capacity for increase were lower than those of the typical form at the corresponding temperature. There was restricted inter-breeding between the two forms and the hybrid males damaged any females with which they were paired.
