Geothermal-solar hybrid system in order to increase the steam flow for geothermic cycle in Cerro Prieto, Mexico. Lentz, A. & Almanza, R. In volume 27, pages 543–546, 2003.
abstract   bibtex
Producing electricity using two energy resources in a system is not a new subject, but a hybrid system solar-geothermal seems to be a new option. Cerro Prieto has a very high solar irradiance, and then this hybrid system can have a very high probability to be a good system. The improvement of a geothermal power plant can be carried out by using parabolic trough concentrators in a high isolation area, like Cerro Prieto in the northwest region of Mexico. Such improvement can help to increase the quantity of the steam and in this way to increase the electricity production. One option is to increase the quantity of steam from the brackish flow water-steam coming from well through heated oil using a parabolic trough solar field and by using a heat exchanger to transfer such heat to the brackish flow; so the steam would increase its quality, it means increase the steam relation of the mixture.
