Using Semantic Networks to Identify Temporal Expressions from Semantic Roles. Llorens, H., Navarro, B., & Saquete, E. In International Conference RANLP 2009, pages 219-224, 2009. Website abstract bibtex Nowadays, the temporal aspects of natural language are receiving a great research interest. TimeML has been adopted as a standard for temporal information annotation by a large number of researchers. Available TimeML resources are very limited in size and in diversity of languages. This paper analyzes a combination of semantic roles and semantic networks information for improving this situation. An automatic approach using semantic networks to convert temporal semantic roles into TimeML TIMEX3 elements is presented. This approach has been quantitatively evaluated for English and Spanish. The results point out that the presented approach can help in a semi-automatic creation of TimeML resources for the evaluated languages and could be also valid for other European languages.
