The effect of sodium versus potassium stannite reduction of bis(2-nitrophenoxy)-3-oxapentane on ratio of 13-membered azo- and azoxycrown ether formation has been studied. Generation of 26-membered di-azo, azoazoxy and di-azoxy compounds in the presence of potassium as a template has been found. The X-ray structure of the 26-membered crown ether with two azoxy subunits in the macrocycle has been presented.
