Research Organization Registry and Its Impact on Indian Institutes of Technology: a data perspective [link]Paper  doi  abstract   bibtex
A significant advancement in this world aims to elevate the precision and efficiency of scholarly cooperation. Collaboration, in this regard, has emerged as paramount for academia. The study that forms the subject matter of this article discusses the academic research landscape using the Research Organization Registry for Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India. It also demonstrates the integration of research organization registries (RORs) with OpenAlex for excellence in research integrity. The system is essential for displaying easy data metrics from other popular repositories such as DataCite, CrossRef, Wikipedia, Wikidata, and others. Works and citation count will be created based on OpenAlex AI for IITs in India. This study selected the first eight IITs based on Wikipedia datasets. Graph visualization will be performed using Python Google Colab Notepad for repositories in India. Aside from these, it also explores the RORs datasets using Works Magnet for insights into the research publications and popularity of IITs in India. The system provides the performance of IITs in their research activities and citation metrics to boost the quality of research using this novel criterion for the universal scholarly community, leading to a more interconnected and efficient research panorama. Results show that ROR integration not only facilitates the accurate identification of institutions and researchers but also enhances the discoverability of IITs' research outputs on a global scale. The academic work concludes that adopting ROR across academic institutions can significantly contribute to more efficient research management, better collaboration opportunities, and improved visibility in the international research landscape.
