Crowdsourcing: Critical perspectives on an emerging archiving practice. Marino, I. K. Acervo, 38(1):1–24, 2024. Number: 1
Paper abstract bibtex It is increasingly common for digital archiving projects to collect historical records from volunteers via open calls on the internet. Based on a critical review of the literature on the crowdsourcing, the article proposes reflections on the dimensions of this form of online archival collection. Discussing the shortcomings of the debate with regard to global and regional inequalities, the article claims for more empirically attentive criteria for evaluating digital archival collections. Keywords: digital archives; digital humanities; crowdsourcing; public history.
