In those notes, Russell repudiates the notion of ego or the subject and with it the relation of acquaintance that he had employed in earlier work. In its place he embraces the Neutral Monism that he had hitherto resisted in, for example, The Theory of Knowledge manuscript (hereafter, TK) (Russell, 1992) and the lectures Philosophy of Logical Atomism (hereafter, PLA) (Russell, 1986). Among those manuscript pages are three notes bundled together on the topic of memory. In the first of these he proclaims:
