The Commercial Impact of Oak Shake in Great Britain [link]Paper  doi  abstract   bibtex
The paper describes the results of a postal questionnaire survey into the extent of oak 'shake' in Great Britain. On average, 21 per cent of all oak was degraded by some form of shake. On a national scale, this represents a reduction in potential harvesting revenues to growers of between 3 million and 8 million annually, and larger sums if the cost of replacement imported hardwoods is considered.
