Educational accommodations: A university administrator's view. McGuire, J. M 1998.
abstract   bibtex
(from the chapter) Familiarizes the reader with the role of the post-secondary disability service administrator in assuring equitable treatment of students with disabilities. The author focuses on students with learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She believes that theses "invisible" disorders pose special challenges for the administrator trying to determine if accommodations are reasonable and fair. In addition to discussing the role of a disability service administrator, this chapter covers the process of determining eligibility for disability services and information on reviewing evaluations, including sample reports. Guidelines for documentation of a specific learning disability and the documentation review process used at the University of Connecticut are appended.
