Composition of Gum Turpentines of Pines. XXIII. A Report on Three Mediterranean Species: Pinus Pinea (Cultivated in California), P. Halepensis (from Israel) and P. Brutia (from Cyprus) [link]Paper  doi  abstract   bibtex
Gum turpentines of three Mediterranean pines have been analyzed. Of interest is the finding that a change of environment (from Italy to California) did not affect the composition of Pinus pinea turpentine. P. halepensis and P. brutia, which are thought by some to be synonymous, differ so much in composition of their turpentines that the two should be considered as separate species.
