The two dithiocarboxylate ligands bridge the two Pt atoms in cis position. Although two possible inner-salt electronic structures, one with a C=C bond and the other with a C-C bond, had been postulated for the ligand, the actual C-C distances in the X-ray structure of the carbonium-carboxylate part of the ligand are 1.50(4) and 1.50(3) Å, suggesting that the bridging ligands are an inner-salt structure with a C-C single bond. The Pt-Pt distance is 3.094(2) Å and is not bonding. © 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
