Monumental Trees [link]Paper  abstract   bibtex
[Excerpt] This site started on a summer's eve in 2003 as a Belgian site about giant sequoia trees in Belgium and The Netherlands. Soon location details were provided by many people from these countries. In 2005 the site was restyled and was also partly available in French and English, but still manually edited by the webmaster. However, in 2010 this became unfeasible for him and the site became MonumentalTrees.com, an interactive community site where users could now add trees/measurements/photos themselves, without a single webmaster being the bottleneck. This website currently covers a wide range of tree species all over the world and is growing fast thanks to the enthousiasm of the community.
