Ahornwälder Im Jura Und in Den Alpen Tab. Moor, M. 2(3-4):244–260. Paper abstract bibtex Maple forests in the jurassic mountains and the Alps. The five sycomore forest communities which are known till today are characterised floristically and ecologically. Their character species: Lunaria rediviva, Actaea spicata, Polystichum lobatum, Aconitum lycoctonum, Phyllitis scolopendrium and Aruncus dioicus are rare or are totally lacking in beech and silverfir forests. Consequently a new alliance should be formed (Lunario-Acerion) incorporating Phyllitido-Aceretum,, Corydakido-Aceretum, Ulmo-Aceretum, Sorbo-Aceretum, Arunco-Aceretum. These sycomore forests colonise rough, rock-strewn, sloping sites, which have little soil development and lack surface stability. Phyllitido-Aceretum and Arunco-Aceretum occur from the sub-montane to the sub-alpine region. The Ulmo-Aceretum is a vicariant association of high altitudes for the Corydalio-Aceretum, whereas the Sorbo-Aceretum is limited to high montane and sub-alpine localities. Sycomore beechwoods of the sub-alliance Acerion Ellenberg 1963 belong synsystematically in the newly described Abieti-Fagion while the mixed limewoods be placed in the relict thermophilous alliance Tilion, of the order Tilietalia.
