Discusses number symbolism, Marian symbolism, the variety of means by which strophe 6 (the first to mention bon Amour) is set off, and musical motives that connect widely separated images in the text. The attributes of Love given in strophe 4 are compared to a similar list in Lyon, and both are related to a list in the Roman de la Rose. An anagram found near the end of the lai is similar to the anagram of the Voir Dit (62).
