Background: The HIV pandemic remains a leading challenge for global health. Although condoms are acknowledged for their key role on preventing HIV transmission, low use of condoms persists among adolescents. Consistent condom use is an important aspect of decreasing HIV transmission risk adolescents. Study Objective: The objective of the study was to assess condom usage among adolescent boys and girls in Diepsloot Methods Study Design: Data were collected in 2014 as part of a Sexual HIV Prevention Programme targeted at adolescents in Diepsloot and Ivory Park, Johannesburg. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire loaded onto a touch screen cellphone. Data Analysis: Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Windows v 22.0. Descriptive analyses looked at the frequencies of selected responses given by participants. Differences among male and female respondents were evaluated by chi square. Lessons Learnt: There is a need to design programmes on delaying sexual debut among sexually active adolescent. Sexually active adolescents must be taught correct and consistent condom usage.
