Website abstract bibtex A process for the prepn. of 5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrrolo[3,2,1-ij]quinoline (I) is disclosed. The process is demonstrated by prepg. I by alkylation of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline with bromoacetaldehyde di-Et acetal followed by cyclization. A key advantage to the process is the ability to produce I using a short, convenient, industrially advantageous and cost-effective two-step synthesis.
