Constructing the « urban profile » of an ancient Greek city: evidence from the Olynthos Project. Nevett, L. C., Tsigarida, E. B., Archibald, Z., & Stone, D. L. Annual of the British School at Athens, 115:329–378, 2020.
Paper doi abstract bibtex Six seasons of fieldwork by the Olynthos Project, together with legacy data from projects by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and by the Greek Archaeological Service, combine to make the Archaic and Classical Greek city of Olynthos one of the best-documented urban centers surviving from the Greek world. The material offers the potential to build up a detailed, holistic urban profile that enhances our ability to address questions about urbanization, urbanism, cultural identities, and economic processes. Discussion includes a summary of the interim results of fieldwork and data analysis carried out by the Olynthos Project, with a focus on research undertaken during the 2017-2019 seasons.
