In 2011 the Ministry of Education undertook a survey to seek the experiences of kaiako in kura and Māori medium settings about Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori at which time they had been available to kura for almost a year. The survey found that overall kaiako are progressing well in their use of Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori. The report is available at: www.educationcounts.govt.nz/publications/maori/maori-medium-education/110058 The Ministry of Education repeated the survey in 2012 at which time Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori had been available to kura for almost two years. For the 2012 survey the Ministry was interested in collecting information from kaiako about their use of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori, confidence in using Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori, making overall judgements, reporting to whānau about student progress and achievement, assessment tools they used, their views on the PLD that was available and how Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori has informed and supported their teaching practice.
