abstract   bibtex
This paper attempts to describe some characteristics of a Confucian cultural landscape in Korean society, focusing on a rural society as an analytical unit. In doing so, this study will elucidate how 'the ethnocartographic method can systematize the diverse geographic distribution of cultural elements which are connected with socio-cultural mobility'(Dostal 1984), and also represent some typical cultural elements in a symbolic code to search the possibility of the analytical unit. Finally, this study is based upon ethnographic materials collected from Chongdo county which is located at the southern part of Kyongsanbuk-do province in Korea.
