A Uniform Code of Ethics: Business and IT Professional Ethics. Payne, D. & Landry, B. J. L. Communications of the ACM, 49(11):81--84, November, 2006. 00034
abstract   bibtex
The article focuses on the creation of a uniform code of ethics for Information Technology (IT) professionals. The authors argue that IT workers have become integrated in all areas of business operations and are represented in nearly every department of companies. The authors argue for the establishment of a single IT industry-wide standard for ethical behavior. The article discusses the components of four different IT and computing associations' codes of ethics. The authors argue that there are commonalities in ethical concepts from both business and IT; the article presents the authors' description of a solitary code of ethics for business and IT.
