The combined application of HRTEM and HAADF technique has allowed to interpret the superstructure contrasts observed in the HRTEM images of a cycled ceria-zirconia mixed oxide. It was found that the approach offers a powerful tool for characterizing structural rearrangements occurring in the cationic sublattice of these materials.
